My doctor wouldn’t look me in the eye
As I shared my family's medical history
“I won’t mince words, son,” he finally said
“This looks like a rare and deadly dystrophy."
“You could be gone by July
Should you choose to ignore it
But I have a cure in mind
And I suggest we explore it”
I did not take the news in stride
In fact, I wildly overreacted
And as a result too many lives
Were profoundly impacted
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Now I’m pinned down in a laundromat
By snipers on the rooftops
I'm trying to convince myself
I’ve gotten out of several tougher spots
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
I consulted with my life coach
From Malibu via Zoom
He can see George Clooney's house
From his guest bathroom
We recited the Serenity Prayer
I ordered some of his special branded cologne
We scheduled another appointment
For after he gets back from Rome
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Now I’m pinned down in a laundromat
By snipers on the rooftops
I'm trying to convince myself
I’ve gotten out of several tougher spots
The sharpshooters out there
Have itchy trigger fingers
Things are getting more dangerous
Every second here I linger
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
My doctor
Wouldn’t look at me
As I shared my family's medical history
“I won’t mince words, son,” he finally said
“You could have a rare and deadly dystrophy.”
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
